What is a non-profit organization and the importance of them?

A non-profit organization (NPO) is an entity that operates without the primary goal of making a profit, focusing instead on social, health, educational, economic, or charitable missions. These organizations play a crucial role in society by addressing various needs, supporting communities, and driving positive change and development. The Community Center of St. Bernard is a NPO. Our desire is to eliminate hunger in our community by acquiring and distributing food to those who seek aid. We exist for the of the greater community of St. Bernard.

How can you participate in a non-profit organization?

  1. Pinpoint a cause important to you and research a NPO that supports what you are passionate about.

  2. Determine how you would like to help that NPO. You can donate, volunteer, attend events, become an ambassador, or serve on a board.

  3. Reach out to your NPO of choice.

  4. Participate!

Participating in NPOs can help you gain new skills and network. A way you can engage with the Community Center of St. Bernard is by participating in our biggest annual fundraiser held every October: Blues, Brews, & BBQ. All proceeds benefit the Community Center of St. Bernard and all the programs that we offer.
